- I got an invitation to take a DoSelect test. What is it?
DoSelect test comprises of problems which are designed to evaluate the technical skills of a candidate. These test invites are from the teams who use our platform.
- Can I open the link now but take the test later?
Yes, you can open the link and read the introductory information. Unless you press Start the test button, you can leave and come back when you are ready. Once you start the test, you will not be able to stop the timer.
- How much time does a DoSelect test take?
Tests duration usually last between half an hour and two hours. The exact duration is set by your recruiter and depends on the number of problems and difficulty level.
Keep in mind that once you begin the test you cannot stop the timer.
- How will my solutions be assessed?
DoSelect has its own assessment engine which is used to assess the code. After completion of the test, solutions are will be either checked on multiple test cases or using automated test framework.
- Will I see my results?
Yes, you will be able to view your result.
- Do I have to take the test immediately after receiving an invitation?
No, Test invite expires in 14 days. A test can be taken any time before mentioned time.
- Do I need to install any software?
No, You only need a supported browser. You don’t need to install any applications or browser plug-ins. The DoSelect interface contains a coding environment that provides everything you need to solve the problems. ( you can edit, compile and run your solutions many times before you submit your code). see Can I use my own IDE?
- What browsers are supported?
Currently proctoring is supported in latest versions of Chrome and Firefox.
- Can I modify the initial code?
Be mindful, once you click Submit All button then you won't be able to modify your code. However, you will be able to modify your code N number of times before submission, Where N can be defined by how well you code at first instance :) )
- May I consult a book/website/colleague?
Of course not, You are on your own. If you do it, we’ll get to know.
- Can I use my own IDE?
Yes. You are free to use any IDE of your choice and submit your code in the required format on our platform for evaluation. However in case if a recruiter has enabled proctoring for particular tests, then you are not allowed use.
- In what environment my code is executed.
Your code will be executed in Linux machine. To know more about the scripting environment click here.
- Will my coding style affect my score?
Your score is dependent only on the functionality of your code i.e. whether it passes the test cases or not. However, we calculate the code quality of your code also which is dependent on your source code.
- How can I test my solution before submitting it?
DoSelect environment enables you to compile and execute your code against a sample test case. You can add your own test cases too.
- Will I lose points for syntax errors?
Yes, If your submitted code doesn’t compile then scoring points will be not awarded. Make sure you take care of all the syntax errors before submission.
